Two people shot in Diepsloot taxi violence

Two people are receiving medical treatment following a shootout between two rival taxi associations in Diepsloot, north of Johannesburg.

The victims are believed to be a taxi owner and a queue marshal who were ambushed by a group of people.

Police have arrested two suspects.

Diepsloot police spokesperson Tinyiko Mathebula says: “Two people between the ages of 32 and 44 were shot and wounded during the violence. The victims were taken to Helen Joseph hospital for medical attention. At the moment the situation is calm, but police will continue monitoring.”
