Two nabbed for illegal abalone in Cape Town

The suspects were found hiding on the premises in a bathroom with the alcohol and money they had stolen.

Two men have been arrested for being in the illegal possession of abalone and West Coast rock lobster with an estimated street value of 250-thousand-rand in Camps Bay in Cape Town.

Metro police patrolling the area made the arrests. This after the police spotted two men hiding the abalone and approached them.

Metro police spokesperson, Wayne Dyason says, “A high speed car chase ensued through the streets of Camps Bay and the suspects were eventually apprehended and taken to Camps Bay SAPS. A Total Amount of 270 Unshucked and 51 shucked abalone and three West Coast Lobsters was confiscated with an estimated street value of R250 000. The suspects were charged with illegal possession of abalone and illegal possession of west coast rock lobster.”
