Two killed, two critical in collision on Inanda Road west of Durban

Two people have been killed and two others critically injured in a multiple head-on collision at Inanda Road in the Waterfall area, west of Durban.

A spokesperson for Emer-G-Med paramedics, Kyle Van Reenen, says the cause of the collision is unclear and will be investigated by police.

“Two people were found in a critical condition and were attended to by a private ambulance service.  One male of approximately 40 years of age was in a critical condition and resuscitation efforts were attempted by Emer-G-Med advanced life support practitioners. However, they were unsuccessful, and he was declared deceased on the scene.

Another male patient believed to be approximately 40 years of age, was treated and stabilized on the scene before being airlifted by the Netcare911 aeromedical helicopter to a nearby hospital for further care.”

Police investigating

Meanwhile, police are investigating the cause of a crash that has left 15 people injured after a taxi and bakkie collided in Town Bush Road at Pietermaritzburg in the midlands of KwaZulu-Natal.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring, says paramedics and other services found the vehicles in the middle of the road.

Meiring says all those hurt sustained minor injuries.

“When we arrived on the scene we found the two vehicles in the middle of the road. The occupants had already got out of the taxi and the bakkie, medical services assisted the patients and found that 15 people had sustained minor injuries and fortunately no serious injuries or fatalities were found.

Patients were treated and thereafter transported to various nearby hospitals in the area for further medical care. Authorities were on the scene for further investigations.” –Additional reporting Hafsa Mkhize
