At least two people have died after being struck by lightning in two separate incidents during heavy thunderstorms in Johannesburg on Monday.
A man believed to be in his 30s died after being struck by lightning on a farm in Elandsfontein, south of Johannesburg.
Paramedics arrived at the scene at 16:55 where he was found dead and surrounded by his colleagues.
City of Johannesburg Emergency Services Spokesperson Nana Radebe says a second person was struck by lightning in Melville.

Three killed in overnight crashes
Meanwhile, three people have been killed in overnight road crashes in Johannesburg due to heavy rains and thunderstorms in Gauteng.
Two of the deceased are pedestrians who died in crashes in Soweto and the N1 highway.
The third person, believed to be a man in his 40s, succumbed to his injuries after the vehicle he was travelling in overturned.
Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department Spokesperson, Wayne Minnaar says: “At least 12 accidents occurred in the Johannesburg area last night during the heavy rain. One of which was very serious when a bus collided with a truck on Golden Highway. A thirty-year-old woman was killed by lightning in Melville. There is still a lot of water on the roads in certain areas and motorists should drive with caution this morning”. -Additional reporting by SABC News.
