Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident

Two children have died after a residential wall fell on them  in Kennedy road, in Durban.

The incident happened late this afternoon, when three friends were playing near the wall.

One of the children sustained moderate injuries and has been taken to hospital.

The deceased aged five and seven died instantly.

It’s unclear at the moment what caused the wall to fall.

Rescue Care spokesperson, Gareth Jamieson, says the police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“On arrival paramedics found that a wall and a gate had collapsed on three young girls – aged between 5 and 7. Unfortunately two of the girls had sustained major injuries and there was nothing paramedics could do for them and they were declared deceased on the scene. The third little girl sustained moderate injured and were stabilised on scene by paramedics before before being transported to a nearby hospital for the further care that she required. At this stage the event leading up to the wall falling down are unknown,” he said.
