The ANC in Johannesburg alleges that Herman Mashaba is plunging the city into debt and failing to deliver services to residents.

Two mayors in DA-led Metro’s, Johannesburg and Mandela Bay will on Thursday face motions of no confidence.

In Johannesburg, the ANC is bringing a motion against City Mayor Herman Mashaba and council speaker Vasco Da Gama.

The debate on it comes as the DA prepares to lead a #HandsOffMashaba march in Johannesburg to be addressed by its leader Mmusi Maimane.

The ANC’s Jolidee Matongo has accused the Johannesburg administration, that was elected last year, of plunging the city into debt and failing to deliver services to residents.

Matongo says Johannesburg is on the brink of a financial collapse.

“If the city doesn’t have money it will not be able to carry out its mandate of delivering basic services to the residents therefore we cannot have Mashaba preside over the city one more day,” says Matongo.

“But also with the Speaker, he has failed to lead council, to hold the executive accountable. He has allowed them to run the show as the executive and not himself as the head of legislature.’
