Two women in agriculture from the Western Cape have been named among the world’s top women entrepreneurs in the 2019 Enterprising Women’s Awards.

Denise Stubbs of Thokozani Wines and Jeanne Groenewald of Elgin Chickens are winners in their respective categories.

Western Cape Economic Opportunities Minister, Beverley Schäfer, says the US-based Enterprising Women Magazine is the organiser of the awards.

“It is a major acknowledgement of the hard work that these women have put out into both their companies, as well as their communities. Because the winners have to demonstrate that they run a fast grow business, but also that they are actively involved in mentoring and supporting women and girls in entrepreneurship and they need to stand out as leaders in their community,” says Schäfer.
