Family and friends of Afro-pop singer, Robbie Malinga say they are struggling to come to terms with his death. This as tributes continue to pour in for Malinga, who died on Monday at the age of 49.

Soweto-born Malinga is well known in South African households, dance floors and weddings for music he produced. His music career dates back to Kwaito days with hits like Insimbi.

He later moved from making Kwaito to producing award winning Afro pop hits. His recent work includes producing Musa’s Mthande, Kelly Khumalo’s Sobabile and Amanda Black’s Amazulu. He had been ill for a number of months and was admitted to hospital in June after being diagnosed with anaemia.

SABC’s Manqoba Mchunu is at Malinga’s home in Soweto.
