Tributes pour in for Carrol Boyes

Renowned South African artist, designer and businesswoman, Carrol Boyes has passed away after a short illness.

Boyes was best known for her decor business that offered deftly crafted high end upmarket home and lifestyle items.

Boyes was the founder, creator and CEO of the Carrol Boyes retailer in Cape Town.

She has been described as an iconic designer and her products are associated with style and finesse.

Her distinctive homeware and tabletop accessories, were often described as unique and quirky. These include crockery and cutlery, sold in over 30 other countries.

Boyes graduated with a degree in Fine Arts, majoring in Sculpture at the University of Pretoria. She began making crafts from her home in Cape Town in 1989.

The artist is known for taking plain and unadventurous traditional utensils and transforming them into sculptured collectable items.

Carrol Boyes’ Spokesperson Michele Stuurman says the artist leaves behind a legacy of creativity and excellence.

Boyes was 63 years old at the time of her passing.
