Tributes are continuing to pour in for former Kaizer Chiefs star Lucky Maselesele who passed away Friday night.

Although details surrounding his death are still sketchy, it is alleged that he succumbed to injuries sustained in an assault incident. Maselesele played for the Soweto giants between 1998 and 2004.

Maselesele enjoyed a glittering career while playing for Kaizer Chiefs.

Kaizer Chiefs posted a message of condolence to the Maselesele family in a statement on their website and social media pages on Sunday.

“We convey our heartfelt condolences to the Maselesele family during this difficult period. We would also like to thank them for the support they gave him by letting Lucky showcase his talent to Amakhosi and South African football in general. Rest in Peace,” noted the football club in the statement.

Maselesele was a product of the School of Excellence before making a move to the Amakhosi development side and subsequently being promoted to the senior side.

Maselesele, who had one cap for the men’s senior national team, will be mostly remembered for his pace and dribbling skills. The 41-year-old also featured for Thanda Royal Zulu, FC AK, Maritzburg United, Black Leopards and had a stint in Namibia and Turkey.
