National Police Spokesperson, Vish Naidoo says a trial date is expected to be set when the five men accused of killing former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper, Senzo Meyiwa, in 2014 appear in the High Court sitting in Palm Ridge in Gauteng on Monday.

The accused are charged with murder, attempted murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances, being in possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition.

They’ve denied any involvement in the death of the soccer star. Meyiwa was gunned down at his girlfriend’s home,  Kelly Khumalo,  in Vosloorus in an alleged botched robbery.

Naidoo says all the accused are still in custody.

“The five accused are as follows: Accused number 1 – Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya, accused number 2 – Bongani Sandiso Ntanzi, accused number 3  who was the Alleged shooter, Mthobisi Mncube, accused number 4-  Mthokoziseni Ziphozonke Maphisa, and accused number 5-  Sifokuhle Sifiso Ntuli,” says Naidoo.

Naidoo says accused number one has other cases.

“Accused number one has two attempted murder cases in Vosloorus court, in one of the charges, he shot a female victim more than 9 times at Vosloorus hostel,” adds Naidoo .
