Transport Minister Dipuo Peters, through the Road Traffic Management Corporation and police, is investigating the cause of the crash in which Public Service Minister Collins Chabane was killed.
Peters has sent her condolences to the families of Chabane and the two bodyguards.
Chabane and his two bodyguards died on impact when their vehicle crashed into a truck on the N1 between Polokwane and Mokopane in Limpopo Sunday morning.
The truck driver is expected to appear in court in Polokwane on Tuesday.
Police spokesperson, Ronel Otto says: “It’s alleged that the driver of the truck made a U-turn on the road and the vehicle carrying the minister and his two protectors crashed into the truck and they died on the scene. The driver of the truck was not injured and he was arrested on the scene. We have opened up a case of culpable homicide and our investigations are continuing.”
