The Africa Mining sector needs transparency, good governance and sustainable practices.

This is according to panel experts attending the 2017 Africa Mining Indaba Conference in Cape Town.

The Indaba brought together more than 25 African mining ministers, investors, business and industry experts.

The experts are attending the second leg of the conference are still facing regulative challenges and political risks in some countries.

Speaking on Weekend Live, African Capacity Building Foundation Director Dr Thomas Munthali says the Indaba was fruitful.

“What we did at the end of the day is to come together as different partners to come up with concrete steps that we are going to take moving forward. There two elements to this thing. There is the issue of how we optimize resources from the mining sector and we are going to put capacity building programmes.”
