Transnet Chief Executive Officer, Siyabonga Gama, has been served with a letter informing him of the board’s intention to terminate his employment.

In a statement, the Board says reasons given to him relate to alleged violations of his fiduciary responsibilities as the CEO of Transnet.

The Board says it has lost confidence in his ability to lead the company.

Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan has been informed of the board’s decision.

Gama has been given 10 days to make a written presentation on why he should not be dismissed.
