Volleyball National League is currently taking place in Kempton Park for five weeks.

William Mojapele, who is the transformation and social responsibility director at the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture, says transformation is key in volleyball.

Volleyball National League is currently taking place in Kempton Park for five weeks. Nine Provincial men’s teams are taking part in the men’s section in both Indoor and Beach Volleyball.

The League started last year and was won by the Western Cape Cranes.

This year the Cranes will be looking to defend their title but last years ‘runners up KwaZulu/Natal Kingdom Rhinos and Gauteng Thunderbolts will also be challenging for the title.

Mojapele says to implement transformation has not been easy.

Only four Provincial teams are participating in the women’s section, which are Gauteng, KwaZulu/Natal, Western Cape and Free State. Mojapele is hoping that they can have all nine provincial teams next year. – Report by Vincent Sitsula
