The Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA) has reacted positively to the UK’s decision to remove South Africa from the travel ‘Red List’.

The decision announced by the UK Government on Thursday, will come into force next Monday.

TBCSA’s CEO, Tshifhiwa Tshivhengwa says they have been working with the public sector to make sure that they open up travel between the two countries and now it’s finally happened.

Tshivhengwa says: “We are looking forward to British tourists coming back to South Africa. We are open for business as I said and we encourage tourists to come and enjoy our long hot summer weather, taste our food and wines.”

Tshivhengwa adds: “There is still an uphill battle in terms of stimulating demand getting the airlift back, we need all those airlines that have been flying between London and South Africa to resume their schedules. One must see the appetite, for those that want to travel to South Africa only then will we see things return to normal.”
