Tour de Libraries has joined other major sporting codes who suspended their upcoming events due to the outbreak of coronavirus. The tour was supposed to be held at the famous Sowetan Vilakazi Street, in Orlando West, on the 22nd of March.

At least 200 cyclists were expected to paddle on the day. The event’s organiser Mpumelelo Mtintso says that it is only responsible to withhold things till further notice.

The campaign, which works with libraries in Johannesburg, will set another date for the tour. Though Mtintso has indicated it will not be easy to schedule the next date due to the Johannesburg cycling busy schedule, they will still push-on to that.

The 29-year-old added that the next event will be more important as they will be encouraging school children to go back to their reading habits after this unexpected break.

Although the books have been already collected, the Book Ibhoni founder, Mtintso is still welcoming more donations of books and cyclists who are interested to join the tour.

With the instability and panics trending around the country, Mtintso encourages South Africans to take the safe precautionary measures and maintain hygiene lifestyle.
