The Midvaal municipality is appealing for donations such as clothing, blankets and canned food for those affected by the tornado that ripped through the Mamello informal settlement in Vaal Marina, Gauteng on Monday.
Many residents have been left without shelter after their homes were damaged.
Midvaal Mayor, Bongani Baloyi says they are continuing with initiatives to rebuild property that was damaged on Monday.
He says: “So we are working with the red ants today and we wil also be starting with our relief programme.”
This programme will help us provide food and clothing received from donations.
“We will also be meeting with the people again just to touch base to establish if they need any other assistance,” he adds.
