Top young tennis stars from all over the country have converged in Port Elizabeth to test their abilities as well as to accumulate points to participate in the International Tennis Federation events.
The Growthpoint Nelson Mandela Bay Tennis Tournament has provided opportunities to players of colour to compete against up and coming players from all over the world.
Tournament organisers say they have received over 150 entries and the number has the potential to grow next year.
The tournament is played under strict COVID-19 regulations.
Tennis player Gareth Igesund says he wants to become professional one day.
“I’m very proud of myself for winning three tournaments back to back, especially for these Growthpoint tournaments, especially since I am playing above my age group here. I’m very proud of myself and there is nothing I can do better.”
