The Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga, says top performing National Senior Certificate matric students of 2017 are in the same league as Nelson Mandela.
Motshekga says Mandela was one of the best people South Africa has ever produced and the students can now be counted in the same team.
“You belong with the best because you are the best the country has to produce,” says Motshekga to the students.
The Minister was speaking in Sandton, Johannesburg on Thursday at a breakfast that was held in honour of the best learners. Motshekga thanked the students for their hard work and urged them to continue to work hard for the benefit of the country.
“You are the best of the best. You are the best that the country has produced,” says Motshekga.
She says the students are the future of South Africa and the country is counting on them to grow. Motshekga told the students that just as in other countries where the nation was dependent on the brains of its people to move forward, South Africa is looking to them.
“We are counting on you to ensure that the country grows. Your bright minds will secure the future of this country,” says Motshekga.
