Top advocate, alleged looting instigator Ike Khumalo to apply for bail

Top advocate Ike Khumalo is expected to appear in the Booysens Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday on allegations of incitement.

The matter is in connection with the looting and stealing during the recent unrest in Gauteng last month.

Khumalo will be making his formal bail application.

He was arrested last week at his home in Mondeor,  south of Johannesburg. Khumalo faces charges of contravening the Riotous Assemblies Act and the Cyber Crimes Act.

Last week former radio DJ Ngizwe Mchunu was released on bail of R2 000 by the Randburg Magistrate’s Court.

He has been charged with inciting public violence and breaching the Disaster Management Act.
