Titans defeat Knights

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The Titans continue to dominate in the RamSlam T20 challenge.

The Pretoria outfit extended their winning streak to six matches with a five wicket win over the Knights at St Georges Park in Port Elizabeth.

Knights captain Theunis de Bruyn won the toss and opted to bat.

A decision he would soon regret as South Africa’s premier fastbowler Dale Steyn took two wickets in his first over.

Steyn who made a comeback to competitive cricket two weeks ago, and who’s looking to return to international cricket against Zimbabwe at the end of the month, removed openers Rudi Second and Keegan Petersen reducing the Knights to eight for two after two overs.

It was the Proteas David Miller who led the recovery.

Despite being dropped twice, Miller produced the highest score of their innings smashing 43 runs from just 34 deliveries.

He was assisted by Ryan McLaren who scored a run-a-ball 21 and Grant Mokoena who’s 28-ball 31 — lifted the Knights to 133 for seven in their 20 overs.

A total, five runs shy of the average score for a T20 at St. George’s Park, but was it enough to challenge the rampant defending champions?

The Knights would have fancied their chances as the Titans lost their top four batsmen for the addition of just 54 runs by the 11th over.

But skipper Albie Morkel’s cameo 27 and a fighting half century from Farhaan Behardien got them over the line with just a single delivery to spare finishing on 139 for five for a five wicket win.
