Tight security ahead of Lesotho’s parliament re-opening

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Security is very tight at the Lesotho National Assembly as the country sees it’s most anticipated reopening of Parliament.

Early Friday morning the police had already blocked the roads to Parliament.

Police have issued warnings that members particularly of opposition parties to not come into the parliament precinct because of limited space.

The police say there is only space for people who were pre-approved.

The government says it has the constitution on its side, the opposition says it has numbers.

Opposition parties want the National Assembly to carry a vote of no confidence in the Prime Minister before any other business in its first sitting.
