Tiger Brands has five days to respond to lawsuit: Malusi

Lawyer at Richard Spoor attorneys Thami Malusi says Tiger Brands Limited has about five days to respond and tell them whether they will oppose to the application of the lawsuit filed against them by Richard Spoor Attorneys.

This comes after Richard Spoor Attorneys filed a Listeria class action lawsuit last week against Tiger Brands Limited and Enterprise Foods in the High Court of South Africa.

The lawsuit was filed on behalf of ten class representative applicants who represent more than 180 people who died from contracting Listeriosis after the health department traced the outbreak to an Enterprise food facility.

Malusi says they have chosen ten representatives as they believe that ten is a good number considering that a 1000 people are roughly affected by Listeriosis.

“With the class action, one doesn’t necessarily have to bring everyone that was affected by whatever damage you are seeking, a handful of people to act as class representatives for the entire class can work.”
