Mourners have described accomplished Jazz musician Dr Brian Thusi as a distinguished artist who always put his family first.
They have been speaking at his funeral service which is under way in Hillcrest, west of Durban.
Thousands of musicians, high-profiled dignitaries and members of the public are attending the service.
KwaZulu-Natal Economic Development MEC Sihle Zikalala says Thusi used music to inspire the youth from townships.
He died last week after a short illness.
