The South African Weather Service (SAWS) says Gauteng residents can expect thunderstorms in most parts of the province to persist until around 9am on Thursday morning.
Thunderstorms are again expected in the afternoon and on Friday.

Flash floods are also expected with low lying areas and informal settlements the most vulnerable.
The storm will also affect some parts of Limpopo and Mpumalanga.
Motorists have been advised to exercise caution on the road.
Forecaster Celeste Fourie says, “Most of Gauteng is enjoying morning thunderstorms and the thunderstorms are going to remain here until 8 or 9 in the morning, then clear out and then for the afternoon we are expecting some thunderstorms from 5 in the afternoon persisting into the evening. For tomorrow (Friday) it is mostly going to be in the afternoon.”
