Three suspected extortionists have been arrested in Strand in Cape Town for the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition. Police spokesperson, Ndakhe Gwala, says members of Operation Lockdown Three received information about three armed suspects in the area.
Gwala says the suspects were in a vehicle and allegedly demanding money from businesses.
“They spotted the vehicle at Xaki Street, Strand at about 21:30. One of the suspects attempted to flee with a plastic bag, but he was apprehended, and two firearms were recovered along with 15 rounds of ammunition. The three suspects will appear at the Strand Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday,” adds Gwala.
