Three of the six inmates, who escaped from Pollsmoor prison outside Cape Town on Sunday night, have been re-arrested.

Regional Correctional Services Commissioner, Delekile Klaas, says a manhunt is continuing for the other three.

The prisoners, aged between 20 and 24-years-old, were being held in the youth section and allegedly threatened other inmates before making their escape.

They bent the burglar bars and used a makeshift rope of bedding and clothes to get over the outside fence.

Klaas says the three escapees were arrested in Cape Town. Those still at large are regarded as dangerous.
