Three people arrested for damaging trains in Soweto

Three people have been arrested after train commuters damaged 10 train carriages at Naledi train station in Soweto.

It is not clear what the commuters were protesting about and if this has affected the movement of trains from Naledi.

Gauteng police spokesperson Kay Makhubele says they damaged about nine carriages and burnt one.

He says: “One property in the train station was also damaged.”

So far, three suspects have been arrested but police are searching for more suspects.
