The three men arrested in connection with the violence and vandalism at the Moses Mabhida stadium in Durban last month will on Wednesday appear in the local magistrate’s court.

Violence started immediately after Free State Stars knocked out Kaizer Chiefs from the Nedbank Cup competition.

The three men include a truck driver, a taxi rank manager and a taxi owner.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Jay Naicker says the detectives from the provincial task team made a breakthrough on Wednesday when they arrested three men in connection with the violence that was witnessed in the Moses Mabhida stadium.

One of the suspects actually handed himself over late Tuesday afternoon when he heard that they were looking for him.

The second suspect was arrested in Mbizana in Eastern Cape.

“All the three men are facing charges of public violence,” says Naicker.
