Three men accused of gang raping a woman in Modimolle arrested

Three of the five men who allegedly gang-raped a woman in a house in Modimolle, Limpopo, have been arrested.

Two others have fled.

Police spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba says a woman and her boyfriend were walking back home from a tavern when they met five men.

One of the men who the lovers know invited them to his house where the suspects allegedly took turns in raping the woman.

The woman’s boyfriend alerted the police.

Ledwaba says the suspects were then arrested with the help of the community.

“Upon arrival, the suspects allegedly threatened the boyfriend while the others dragged the woman to the bedroom and took turns in raping her. The boyfriend fled the scene and notified the police. Three of the suspects were arrested shortly after the incident through community assistance. The suspects will appear before Modimolle Magistrate’s Court soon.”
