Three people were killed and 43 others hospitalised after a bus travelling on Airport Road in Plettenburg Bay in the Western Cape crashed and overturned on Friday morning.
The crash happened when the driver lost control of the vehicle.
Western traffic officials say the bus had been travelling on an alternative route for motorists avoiding the violent protests in the area.
Bitou Muncipality spokesperson Manfred Van Rooyen says police are investigating the cause of the incident. Efforts are underway to tow the bus.
