Three Ugandan nationals are expected to appear in the Molopo Magistrate’s court in the North West on Wednesday morning on theft and false pretense charges.

They were arrested last month after several residents consulted with one of them, who pretended to be a traditional doctor.

The two others are suspected to have colluded with the so-called traditional doctor.

One of the victims was allegedly made to pay R50 000 to receive good luck and a solution to his financial problems.

One victim was given a trunk full of clothes and was told to open it when he arrives at home. The clothes according to the victim would have turned into cash.

The victim alerted the police after the trunk failed to open as he suspected foul play.  The complainant then went back to the doctor to report what had happened.

The doctor allegedly told him to resign from his employment, as more money was needed, for the process to be a success.

Police also found fake notes including proof of payments which were seized.
