Three people have been killed in three separate road crashes in Limpopo.

The first fatality was recorded on the D11 road in Sekgosese after a car veered off the road and hit a tree. In the second incident, a passenger died on the Rita road in Solomondale when the vehicle they were travelling in overturned.

A passenger was killed in a head on collision between a bakkie and a car in Selwane village outside Phalaborwa in the third incident.

Provincial Transport Department spokesperson Mike Maringa says this brings to five the number of people who have died on Limpopo roads since the start of the Easter weekend.

“It is unfortunate that we are reporting more crashes that claimed the lives of three people in Mopani and Capricorn Districts in Limpopo. MEC Mavhungu Lerule Ramakhanya is concerned that our people continue to speed despite the call for patience while others are driving under the influence of alcohol, the MEC says officers are deployed to notorious roads in the districts for visibility.”
