Although SAFA would not reveal the names of the three candidates, they have dismissed claims that former Bafana Bafana coach Molefi Ntseki’s name was in the mix.
According to an unconfirmed source, former Safa Coach Instructor and member of the SAFA Technical Committee, Sudesh Singh is believed to be the favourite for the position. “Unfortunately, I cannot mention names because we have not informed them.”

The position was last occupied by former Bafana defender Neil Tovey.
Whoever gets appointed will be tasked with giving technical direction for football in the country with the rolling out of the national playing philosophy being one of the key mandates.
In a letter seen by SABC News, Singh will be leaving for Egypt soon on an invitation by the Right to Dream group to consult on their latest academy project.
“The purpose of this visit is to attend meetings aimed at capacity in building football across the continent at the long term and focus on adding quality for our Egyptian sweeps for 2021-2022 and cultural exchanges and football scouting conferences,” reads the letter in part.
