Three buses torched in Cape Flats protest

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Golden Arrow bus company is investigating the torching of three of its buses, as well as two private vehicles, at the Mew Way bridge on the N2 in Khayelitsha in the Cape Flats on Thursday night.

The buses were completely gutted.

Golden Arrow spokesperson Bronwen Dyke-Beyer says the motive for the incident is unclear at this stage.

“Fortunately none of our drivers were injured and there were no passengers on board any of the buses at the time. We are keeping a close eye on the area, but at this stage the motive is not clear as the area was very quiet at the time. We would therefore like to appeal to anybody who does have information on what happened to please come forward.”
