The grass isn’t always green on the other side – Dladla

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Initially deemed a gimmick by many of the football purists, the Carling Cup has grown into a not-to-be-missed pre-season event that excites the legions of Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates fans.

This Saturday will be no different as the two Soweto giants lock horns at the FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon, (kick-off 3pm.) Retired Chiefs midfielder Josta Dladla shares his excitement for the clash.

Amakhosi have been quite busy in the market, adding four new signings to their books so far for the new campaign.

But despite their transfer excitement, the Soweto giants, who are fresh off a 2-1 defeat to Township Rollers in Botswana this past Saturday are yet to hit the ground running.

Dladla is content with the new recruits and singles out striker Lazarous Kambole to make an immediate impact.

Having finished the past season out of the top eight bracket, Chiefs fans will be hoping for a silverware-filled season. Dladla says it is only a matter of time Amakhosi gets it right.

On the other hand, Chiefs’ rivals Pirates will look to continue off from a season where they finished on second spot by kicking off the season with a win against Chiefs, but Dladla is confident this is the game Chiefs will turn the corner with.

Once on the books of Mamelodi Sundowns as well, Dladla divulges what he believes The Brazillians are doing right as compared to Amakhosi and weighs in on why Sundowns players have at times struggled once they cross the floor to Soweto. Report by Tumi Gabonamong
