The win saw Wits consolidate their fourth position on the log with 30 points after 14 games while Celtic dropped to sixth below fifth placed Orlando Pirates who beat Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0.

A brilliant second-half fightback from Bidvest Wits earned The Clever Boys a 3-2 win over Bloemfontein Celtic in an Absa Premiership match played at Bidvest Stadium on Wednesday night.

Phathutshedzo Nange opened the scoring with a stunning goal but Phunya Sele Sele replied with two second-half goals through Menzi Masuku and Andile Fikizolo.

However, Haashim Domingo and Gift Motupa struck in quick succession to seal vital points at home for Gavin Hunt’s men. This was the reaction from the host’s head coach.

Celtic head coach Lehlohonolo Seema echoed his opponent’s sentiments about the game having two contrasting halves. Seema, thought his team played well but conceded that Wits were the better team of the day.

With three games in hand and 11 points from league leaders Kaizer Chiefs, Hunt refused to get carried away about the prospect of catching up with the high flying Amakhosi and says his focus is to freshen his squad for busy fixtures ahead.

Seema’s team can head back to the City of Roses with their heads held up high and with an interesting fixture against Chippa United on Sunday, Seema had encouraging words for his young team.
