The victory takes The Citizens to the 7th position on the log standings while Sundowns remain second on the log with Kaizer Chiefs leading the pack by six points.

Cape Town City secured their third successive win in the ABSA Premiership after defeating Mamelodi Sundowns 3-2 at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Monday night.

The loss has further dampened Sundowns’ title hopes with six matches to go, trailing log leaders, Chiefs by six points.

The victory takes The Citizens to 7th position on the log standings while Sundowns remain second on the log with Kaizer Chiefs leading the pack by 6 points.

The Absa Premiership announced the sad news of the passing of former Orlando Pirates Goalkeeper Patrick “Sgantsontso” Wasmuth and former Moroka Swallows Striker John “Special” Makhubu.

The league will observe a Moment of Silence ahead of this week’s Absa Premiership and GladAfrica Championship fixtures for the two fallen legends until Sunday.
