Thabang Moloi sentenced to three life terms and a combined 279 years for 27 offences in the North West

The North West High Court sitting in Klerksdorp, in the North West, has sentenced Thabang Gordon Moloi to three life terms and a combined 279 years on 27 offences relating to murder, attempted murder, rape and housebreaking.

Moloi was earlier found guilty of murder, attempted murder, multiple robbery and kidnapping charges, theft and escaping from lawful custody. The offences were committed between July 2016 and August 2017, in Ikageng township near Potchefstroom.

 

545 suspects arrested during the Safer Festive Season Operations

Meanwhile, police in the province have arrested 545 suspects during the Safer Festive Season Operations conducted from the 6th of December to date.

The suspects were arrested for different contact and property-related crimes as well as crimes dependent on police action for detection.

129 were arrested during various “Operation Basadi” activities conducted in all the four districts of the province to conclude the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children.

Nine Gender-Based Violence survivors were also given gifts and food hampers by the Rustenburg Sub District police cluster.
