Tenge and Ngubane clash again

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Reigning World Boxing Federation (WBF) female junior-middleweight champion Noni Tenge and challenger Mapule Ngubane will face each other for the third time in just under two years.

Tenge will defend her belt against Ngubane at the Mdantsane Indoor Sport Centre in East London on Sunday.

Translation: {I often say that our talents will continue to be stifled as long as we don’t get any action. I’m, however, grateful to Zbashy Promotions boss Sibongile Matiti for giving me this opportunity to fight again even though she went through some difficult times at one stage.}

Tenge is grateful that she gets yet another chance to fight again as fights for female boxers are scarce.

Ngubane, who buried her mother in Pietermaritzburg last Sunday, says that she did not have enough time to prepare for this fight. – Report by Monwabisi Jimlongo

Translation: {I want to be a competent challenger and I’m not nervous at all. However, my problem is that I’m struggling with weight after I started training for this fight on Monday. I’m not sure whether I will be able to make the required weight. My mom’s funeral made it difficult for me to start training early for this fight. Chances like these don’t come often to us female boxers thus I took this fight. I’m praying that I will make the required weight.}
