Ten companies to invest more than R130 billion in SA economy

Ten companies have announced they will be investing a total amount of over R130 billion into the South African economy over the next five years. Investment pledges worth billions of rands have already been pouring in at the inaugural South Africa Investment Conference underway in Sandton, Johannesburg.

Over a thousand delegates are attending, much more than the 400 that government had expected.  These top business leaders among them have promised enormous amounts.

“My name is Basil (Vasili) Sgourdos, Naspers CFO, we are contributing R2 billion to early stage start-up taking total contribution to R4. 6 billion. “

Another attendee said;” My name is Ashish Thakker, founder of Mara Corporation based in 25 African countries headquartered in Rwanda. Mara is excited to invest a R100 million in South Africa. “

Executive Head of Anglo-American in South African Andile Sanqu announced that the company plans to to invest 6 billion dollars up to 2022.
