Team SA adds four more medals

Tatjana Schoenmaker set a new record with her winning time of two minutes 22 point zero two seconds, a new African record.

Team South Africa has added four more medals to their tally on day three of the Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast in Australia.

Chad le Clos and Tatjana Schoenmaker claimed gold medals in the men’s 200 metres butterfly and women’s 200 metres breaststroke respectively.

Le Clos led from start to finish for his third straight Commonwealth Games gold medal in the event. His time of one minute 54 seconds was also a Games record.

Schoenmaker set a new record with her winning time of two minutes 22.02 seconds, a new African record.

Cameron van der Burgh claimed South Africa’s third medal in the pool picking up bronze in the men’s 100m breaststroke.

Earlier, veteran Commonwealth Games weight lifter Mona Pretorius took bronze in the women’s 63kg division with a total of 206kg.
