A primary school teacher in Klerksdorp in the North West is expected to appear in the local magistrate’s court to face eight sexual assault and grooming charges.
He is currently out on bail of R5 000. This after he allegedly fondled several under-aged learners last month.
After hearing that one learner reported her ordeal to the police, several mothers then opened similar cases at the police station.
Most learners at the local primary school told their mothers that they were also sexually assaulted since last year.
Police investigated the matter which subsequently led to the teacher being arrested.
Police say there has been a number of ongoing sexual assault cases that have not been reported.
Meanwhile, the North West Education Department says the alleged teacher has been placed on special leave, pending further investigations.
