Bafana Bafana striker Percy Tau says he is looking to grow his brand at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.

Tau will be the national team’s talisman after he helped them to qualify for the prestigious tournament.

He also had a good season in Belgium after he was voted Player of the Year playing for second-tier team Royal Union Saint Gilliose.

Tau was signed by English Premier League’s Brighton and Hove Albion, but was loaned to Royal Union due to work permit issues. Many are expecting him to play in a bigger league next season but he did not give much away.

Tau recently joined the list of local footballers who have obtained a University qualification such as Siboniso Gaxa, Lehlohonolo Majoro and Xola Mlambo.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns forward had a tough season which ended recently.

He says he had a three week break.

Royal Union missed out on qualifying for the Europa League, which is Europe’s second most prestigious competition, due to club licencing issues.

Tau was grateful he played in the Europa qualifiers. – Report by Vincent Sitsula
