The South African Union of Students (SAUS) Spokesperson, Thabo Shingange, says it’s understood that around 65 000 applications were rejected.
The applications of more than 300 000 mainly first-year students have been approved by the National Student Financial Aid Scheme. The scheme has also confirmed that they have reversed their rejection of 60 000 students and have now granted them funding.
The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) says prospective students whose applications are missing the supporting documents have until Thursday to submit them.
The National Student Financial Aid Scheme’s( NSFAS) new funding cycle for 2019 will be opened at the beginning of next month.
