The ANC in the Northern Cape have advised the Sol Plaatje Municipality in Kimberley to suspend Municipal Manager, Goolam Akhawaray as well as the Chief Financial Officer, Lydia Mahloko following violent service delivery protests.
A mass march to two magistrate’s courts in Kimberley is expected on Monday, with residents demanding the release of close to 150 people arrested for public violence.
The Kimberley protest is degenerating into chaos as police try to disperse angry crowds. Some breakaway groups from the march are trying to loot closed shops.
