The Congress of the People says African National Congress (ANC) Secretary-General Ace Magashule must not dictate to the Hawks and the National Prosecuting Authority on how they should conduct arrests.
Three suspects have been killed following a shootout with the Hawks at Marlboro, north of Johannesburg.
A director of a company outside Malamulele in Limpopo has been arrested by the Hawks for allegedly defrauding the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) relief fund of over R3 million.
Analysts believe that if the Secretary-General of the ANC Ace Magashule is arrested, it will most likely be a huge problem for the party. They say politics may be at play in the latest developments surrounding Magashule and the Hawks.
