This week marks the re-admission of South Africa into the United Nations, ending years of international isolation.
The milestone followed the country’s successful first democratic elections, which were held on 27 April 1994.

This week marks 25 years since South Africa and Botswana signed an agreement upgrading the two countries’ diplomatic relations. The ties were first formalised in 1992 with the establishment of Representative Offices in both countries in 1992.

This week marks 25 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Palestine and South Africa.
Full diplomatic relations between the two countries were, however, formalised on 15 February 1995, with South Africa’s first representative to the Palestinians National Authority taking up office in August of the same year in Gaza.
