The ANC in the Free State says it welcomes the results of the by-elections held in Maluti-A-Phofung Municipality in QwaQwa in the Free State.
The African National Congress (ANC) has lost 10 wards and retained five in the fiercely contested by-elections in Maluti-a-Phofung Municipality in the Free State.
The IEC in the Free State says despite experiencing a few challenges Maluti-a-Phofung municipal by-elections went according to plan.
DA spokesperson Solly Malatsi says the party is worried that it lost five wards to the ANC in the recent by-elections countrywide.
Twenty-seven municipal ward by-elections will be held in eight provinces on Wednesday. The by-elections will be contested by 105 candidates from 15 political parties and five independent candidates.
